Human Resources Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Hours: Part-time; 25 hours per week (Monday-Friday 10 am to 3 PM)
Salary: $30-35 per hour commensurate with experience
Family and Community Resources, Inc. (FCR) is seeking a passionate, motivated, and flexible HR Generalist to join our team

Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist supports the overall HR function within a nonprofit human services organization by administering policies, programs, and practices that ensure a compliant, engaged, and mission-driven workforce. This role partners with leadership and staff to support recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and performance management, with a focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that aligns with the organization’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
Coordinate full-cycle recruitment efforts, including job postings, candidate screenings, and reference checks
Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies
Promote the organization as an employer of choice within the human services sector
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring practices
Onboarding & Employee Experience
Assist in developing a standardized onboarding procedure across multiple programs
Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes for new hires
Ensure completion of all required employment documentation and background checks
Support employee engagement initiatives, including training and professional development programs
Assist with retention strategies in a high-demand human services environment
Employee Relations
Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns
Support conflict resolution and assist with investigations when needed
Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture
Provide guidance to supervisors on HR policies and best practices
Compliance & Policy Administration
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as nonprofit-specific regulations
Maintain and update employee records and HRIS systems
Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication
Compensation & Benefits
Assist in administering employee benefits programs
Support payroll processes in coordination with finance, as needed
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and compensation
Participate in compensation reviews and benchmarking as needed
Training & Development
Coordinate staff training, including mandatory compliance trainings (e.g., HIPAA, CPR Certifications, safety)
Track certifications and licensure requirements for program staff
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required
3–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a nonprofit or human services setting
SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification
Experience working with diverse and mission-driven teams
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit or social services organizations (e.g., behavioral health, community services, residential programs)
Knowledge of trauma-informed workplace practices
Work Environment
Work is performed in both office and program settings
May require occasional travel to program sites
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required
