“I thought it was love. I thought things were really going to change. But I see now it was just the cycle."
Juliet sat in the back of one of our DV101 classes, silently shaking her head as an advocate explained the cycle of abuse, or the recurring stages that occur in an abusive relationship. At the end of the session, she went up and thanked the presenter, because that class was her light blub moment - she finally understood her situation, and was ready to take her power back and work on healing.
